Come join us at the Lester Centre on the afternoon of Saturday, September 7th for the official ribbon cutting for Cloudberry Phase 1, complete with oversized novelty scissors! ✂️

Festivites will include a FREE community BBQ, live music, a community bike ride along the multi-use pathway, and more!

This event will include the awards ceremony for the Trailblazer event, so you can cheer for all the athletes who ran earlier in the day. 🎉

Kaien Coastal Riders (KCR) is excited to announce that we will be up and running again this summer. We currently have insurance coverage to run on trails within the city limits, and will be facilitating trail outings for Acropolis manor residents starting in May. Later in the season, we hope to have insurance coverage to be able to facilitate rides on the Butze Rapids and Metlakatla Wilderness trails.

We need your help!

KCR is a subdivision of Kaien Trails , completely run off of volunteer efforts and community fundraising initiatives. We aim to facilitate access to the outdoors and community gathering for wheelchair users and those with unique mobility

Please consider coming out to:
-Get hands on experience using the trail rider
-Ask questions about outing opportunities and collaboration ideas
-Spend a beautiful evening outdoors on the Rushbrook trail
-Chat with other community members

For liability reasons, we require waivers to be completed. There will be paper copies of all forms at the event. Please pre-read the waiver prior to attending (you can find this on the Kaien Trails website on the KCR page).

Last week during the cold snap a volunteer crew of all ages put some serious sweat equity into the early stages of construction of the Cloudberry Trail. It’s so true what they say about wood warming you twice!

After many hours of writing grant proposals, it was especially exciting for Kaien Trails’ leadership team to finally get their hands dirty with some concrete progress. We are very much looking forward to seeing this first kilometer of trail operational in the spring.

The community has chosen the three grazing deer as the art installation for Phase 1 of the Cloudberry Trail! These graceful ungulates stole the victory with an OVERWHELMING 51% of the vote, woth the eagles a distant second at 28%.

The build will start at the Civic Centre, so please respect the contractors and their equipment as they go about their work.
