Kaien Coastal Riders

The Kaien Coastal Riders program uses an adaptive wheelchair—a Trail Rider— to make trails accessible to everyone.

Our aim is to be a strong and energetic team that makes the outdoors more accessible in Prince Rupert and its surrounding communities. We provide a safe way for wheelchair users and people with unique mobility to expand their boundaries by experiencing the outdoors. We aim to connect people and to foster learning and volunteer opportunities for all people of unique abilities.

Kaien Coastal Riders (KCR) is excited to announce that we will be up and running again this summer. We currently have insurance coverage to run on trails within the city limits, and will be facilitating trail outings for Acropolis manor residents starting in May. Later in the season, we hope to have insurance coverage to be able to facilitate rides on the Butze Rapids and Metlakatla Wilderness trails.

KCR is a subdivision of Kaien Trails, completely run off of volunteer efforts and community fundraising initiatives.  We aim to facilitate access to the outdoors and community gathering for wheelchair users and those with unique mobility

Please consider coming out to:

• Get hands on experience using the trail rider
• Ask questions about outing opportunities and collaboration ideas
• Spend a beautiful evening outdoors on the Rushbrook trail
• Chat with other community members

For liability reasons, we require waivers to be completed. There will be paper copies of all forms at all events. Please pre-read the waiver prior to attending (see below).
